At 8 :15 a.m. on August 6 in 1945, the Atomic Bomb was dropped on Hiroshima first in the history of the world. This picture was drawn in 1974 by the person who witnessed the " mushroom cloud " from a far-away mountain village 20 miles north of Hiroshima.  Under the " mushroom cloud ," the whole Hiroshima city was burnt to the ground and about twenty thousand people died

 This is a picture of a small fire prevention water tank crowded with dead bodies. Most part of Hiroshima city was wrapped in fire a little while after the Atomic Bomb was dropped. Many people rushed to these small fire prevention water tanks to avoid flames of fire and burnt to death.

 This is a photograph of Ryuto-e ( ceremony of floating lit paper lanterns ). Every year, at the night of August 6, people float lit paper lanterns on the Motoyasu River flowing beside the "Atomic Dome." This is one of the ceremonies to mourn for the souls of the atomic victims.
